Back to the daily grind...

...and I love it.

Florida was easypeasy, but I'm glad to be back.
BigDaddy was rather negligent when it came to the bird feeders, and I'm afraid my feathered friends may have flown away to greener pastures (where the men actually read a "to-do" list).
Hopefully they'll return.

::sigh::

I missed the Blizzard of 2011 and I'm slightly disappointed.
Staying warm inside while watching a blizzard through the windows would have brought back some fond memories.
So I ignored the swaying palms outside, and kept my eyes glued to the Weather Channel.
I closed the shutters and pretended to hear shoveling outside.

It's been a long time since Chicagoans abandoned their cars on Lake Shore Drive.
A little scary...
TeacherGirl takes this route, and she made it home just in time.

But quite a bit of the snow has melted, and my backyard is recognizable...
and the snow is dirty...that's home.

TeacherGirl and Bryan stopped over for dinner.
The "soon-to-be marrieds" are watching their weight so I found a yummy, low-fat, Mexican Chicken recipe.
Salsa and black beans are two favorites in this house...

It was a big hit, and you can find it HERE.

Due to the chronic dieting going on, I bought little, tiny, itsy-bitsy cupcakes.

I ate them all.
Every single one of them.
And I hid the wrappers in the bottom of the trash.

And when I woke up this morning I felt absolutely no guilt.
I'm the Mother of the Bride...a little padding makes me look wise and motherly.
That's what I'm telling myself these days.
Wise and Motherly.

  2. That snow looks more than I have ever seen in my entire life.

As for those cup cakes - we all have days like that - all the cakes, a whole box of chocolates, a whole block of marzipan....best to put it behind you and move on (if you can get into your mother of the bride's dress).
