Let's Talk About Friends...

...we all need them!

I grew up shy and introverted, in a neighborhood full of large, boisterous families.
I didn't fit in easily.
But I tried, I did my best, and I was blessed with two good friends that stood by me through
the terrors of grammar school.
High school brought a few more friends, loads of drama, and boys.
Growing up is confusing.

And that's why I love where I am now.
Age may have it's disappointments, but they're mostly physical, and usually expected.

I wasn't blessed with sisters, so I value my friendships.

Having the same close friends for decades is one of my greatest gifts.
There's something special about watching your children play together and then sharing
a box of tissue when they walk down the aisle.

It's comforting to have a friend that can finish your sentences, remember your children's allergies, and remind you that yellow isn't your best color...and there's something on your nose.

And when new family members become friends...well, that's just icing.

Life is short, and sometimes it takes long to realize it.
But when it sinks in.....doors open.
And the possibilities are endless.

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

  1. Long time friends are wonderful!! (I've known my best friend since we were two years old.)
The banners you made in your last post are really cute too!

  2. Amen, amen, amen!! I think that's why the fifties might take the Favorite Decade award from me, despite all the wrinkles and health issues - the friendships I've held onto and the new ones I've developed. Precious!
