Molly, Molly, Molly!

MollDoll contributed to last night's very late, very rushed dinner.
We started with some guacamole...

Very Simple Guac'

2-3 ripe avocados
1/4 cup or less of chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup or less of chopped red onion
1 garlic clove minced (or garlic salt to taste)
coarse salt and ground black pepper to taste
splash of lime juice (optional)

Peel and mash the avocados
Add other ingredients and mix!

Molly's not allowing me any more pics of her...it seems she's blogged out after our Florida trip. I'm not sure I understand why it's an issue, but I do agree it's probably a little annoying when I'm creeping around waiting for her to do something cute.
And of course being her mother means I think almost everything she does is cute...almost everything.

While I grilled the steaks she roasted some asparagus {when children go away to college don't they come back with poor eating habits?...I was so looking forward to sharing Flamin' Hot Cheetoes and Milky Ways with her}

Here's the recipe...ROASTED ASPARAGUS

My kitchen queen also made a lovely salad with a VINAIGRETTE {she always was an overachiever}. Did I mention that I grilled the steaks? Did I mention it was drizzling outside?...and while holding the metal tongs I saw some lightening...very dangerous.

Please notice the lovely grill marks...I did that.

Yes, my sarcasm is phony...I love having a daughter who takes charge. I told her how wonderful she is, I cleaned the kitchen while she read a magazine, and I finally gave in to her request for new running shoes. She's running quite a bit lately and throwing the M word around {MARATHON}...yikes!

We just made it to the store before closing...and her current shoes look fine to me...

I was about to tell her how I wore the same pair of gym shoes for five years, but I didn't. MollDoll is one frugal chickadee, she's still living on wages from her summers as a bank teller. I have to give her credit for that.
So I agreed to pony up for a new pair of shoes, but first she had to try on just a few pairs...

...and give them a test run through the store...

After she settled on the right pair we ended the day, well at least I did...she went out with friends.
Oh to be young.
