Florida bound, and "Pretend-Grandmothering"...

Molly and I have decided to head back to paradise on Tuesday.
She's invited one of her college friends to meet us there. This means I'll probably spend quite a bit of time alone while they do things that this old body just can't handle anymore.
I do have a bucket list though...and parasailing is on it.

But I'm afraid of heights, and deep water...and terribly afraid of bathing suits.

So I'll probably read a lot, chat with the elderly neighbors, and do crossword puzzles while sipping iced tea...poor me. I have a couple of books picked out...and yes the only reason why I'm reading Kitty Kelley's Oprah bio is because I'm guessing there's some DIRT I might find interesting.

Andre Dubus wrote The House of Sand and Fog and I loved that book so hopefully this one won't disappoint.
I love to read.
Once a nerd, always a nerd...doesn't bother me.

Now for my big confession...

Yes I pretended to be a grandmother today, and I am not ashamed.

Poor little Preston, you know what he's thinking don't you??...

"You're leaving me here with the crazy camera lady ?!??"

Preston's mama, Sarah, was gracious enough to take care of Molly's college-stressed hair on her day off. So I thought I'd watch Preston and see if I could handle it {don't worry Sarah, I knew I could handle it, he wasn't really an experiment in what I forgot about parenting.}

I think I did fine, I know I enjoyed it!
The bottle feeding, the burping, the diaper changing...a walk in the park.
The fact that I never put him down, and kept making sure he was breathing...that's something I need to work on.

Can a smothering overly enthused mother grow up to be a relaxed grandparent?

Possibly.
Personally I feel a little hovering never hurt any child.

...and I can't wait to see these little piggies again!

Have a Wonderful Weekend

  1. Thanks for dropping by my blog...and for the invaluable tip about leggings. I'm putting that down in a journal for safe keeping.
