Bathroom Crazy...

Timing has never worked well for me...

...and that's why my bathroom sinks and counters are laying on my front lawn.

I'm positive the neighbors are peeking at me from behind their curtains.
I can feel their eyes.
And I know they're wondering what the crazy lady is changing now, and why is she taking pictures.

After eighteen wonderful years in this house, it's time to update the upstairs bathrooms.

{Master Bath}

The "kid's bathroom" isn't really a "kid's bathroom" anymore.

When MollDoll comes home she owns this room, but most of the year it remains empty, unused, and lonely.
This was the bathroom that caused many sister vs. brother feuds. It was here that prom makeup was applied, stinky boy socks were left on the floor, and tears were shed over teenage dramas.
When TeacherGirl comes home for a special event, she rules this bathroom.

I'm doing my best to reuse as many fixtures as possible. I seem to be a little more frugal and green in my twilight years!
I have often been called cheap....by two nameless blonde girls.

I'll be heading to Florida in a few days, and leaving the supervision of this project in the hands of BigDaddy.
Like I said, timing has never worked well for me.
I am a poor scheduler.

I'm a little worried, but every so often I've been forced to walk away from a project. And so far, things have turned out just fine...knock on wood.
There's always a mess waiting for me, but I've gotten used to that.
I'm still one hell of a floor scrubber.

Pinkalicious Update...

Thank the Lord...it's not as difficult as I thought it would be!

I didn't even need my sewing machine!
The internet can be full of unnecessary information, but every now and then you find a miracle.

My miracle came in the form of a TUTORIAL for a no-sew tutu!!!

Other than using bolted tulle (instead of strips, because I already bought it)...
I also layered it. I need a few more things to make TeacherGirl truly Pinkalicious!

This ol' lady still has "it"... it's just that sometimes I forget where I've put it.

The Great Outdoors...

I'm always a little frightened when one of these arrives in my driveway...

It took an entire day to remove all the deer-eaten greenery from the yard. I woke up very early and found that the shrub fairy marked all the doomed evergreens orange. After my first cup of coffee I took another peek outside and the work had begun...

We're going to wait awhile before planting anything new. I was thinking those aluminum Christmas trees would work nicely. There are some "deer resistant" shrubs available but somehow I think our Chicago deer would have a good laugh while chewing on those.

Remember that lovely mess we tried to ignore?...

 It's gone!!

I'm just hoping all that beautiful mulch doesn't blow away...it is a windy city!

On another note...

I am no longer a blonde. I needed a change too.
No picture yet...

Things I need to do....as soon as possible!

Finish Carolyn's Engagement Scrapbook!...my son proposed last June.

Clean my closet...I semi-cleaned it before I took the picture.

Finish these pillows...I've been wanting to redo the blue ones since 2007.

Finish my sewing...that green material is meant for a quilt I wanted to make Molly last year.

Organize my pantry...I can't believe I'm posting this picture.

Spend more time exercising...I'm hoping I won't have an allergic reaction to the thick coat of dust.

Get rid of the Christmas mayhem!...I do NOT need to keep the broken ornaments from 1995.

Clean my desk...I haven't any room up here, so my kitchen table has become my satellite desk.

Put things in perspective...and PRAY just a little more...

Just a pillow...

No, I do not like this material...not my style. I've been holding on to this for a year or so. It's the left over drapery material from my son's apartment. So I made a pillow for him...

Almost done...

Done...very plain and simple...

And Cooper stared at me the ENTIRE TIME I WAS SEWING!!!..I tried to ignore him, but he whined, and whined....my children are grown, but I have a whining dog.....cute, but annoying...

Lazy Sunday? I wish..

Can we ever just relax on Sunday?
Big Daddy wants to clean out the garage...this should be a positive, but I know he's going to hose it down...then the excess water will freeze...and then I will fall on the ice. He should have been a firefighter, he likes to water things.
He's already gone to church, read the paper, and had breakfast. I should be grateful for his ambition, but my energy doesn't kick in until much later. So when he's ready for a nap, I'm hoping he'll help me paint something. Never happens. Uh oh, the hose was just brought up from the basement...here we go..

I'm trying not to laugh (actually I'm not holding it back), the water is just dribbling out of the hose...

HAHAHAHA

Great...here comes the ice rink...

I'm trying to decide what color my cast should be...but first I'm wondering how long it will take for this stuff to be brought down to the basement....I'm guessing March..

I just love Sundays..
