...I'm moving to the city.
I'm not exactly a country bumpkin, but we've spent thirty four years in the suburbs, so it's going to be a change.
It's going to be a huge change, but the idea of downsizing is exciting.
Challenging, but exciting.
The last twenty one years have been happily spent here...
Lots of room.
No nosey neighbors.
And a ridiculous amount of storage.
::sigh::
I am sweating a little.
Last week I spent an entire day shredding checks from 1985.
I also discovered that I have a little bit of a hoarding problem when it comes to my children's paraphernalia.
Four children, 16-18 years of schooling each...you do the math.
And yes, I saved everything right up to college graduations, and law school.
And the children aren't cooperating.
They won't take their stuff.
Me: "I've put all your trophies and artwork in these two boxes, take them home please!"
Them: "I can't, I don't have room"
Me: "I'll throw them away then"
Them: "You really don't care about my accomplishments, do you?"
So now I will be paying storage fees for macaroni necklaces, and t-ball trophies.
That's okay.
At least they've all moved out.
So GOODBYE snow shoveling...
And HELLO beautifully-maintained-highrise...
I'll keep you posted on this new adventure.
Oh wow, that is going to be a big change. Kids grow, things change..
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the kids "stuff". Our daughter moved to FL and we still have all her stuff... I think it is time to ship all of it to her.
How exciting and may I say freeing too? I have been in the process of not bringing more stuff into our home because of the downsizing prospect in our future. We still have our "kids' stuff" though. How did they manage to move out and not take their stuff I wonder? I think I have tricky kids! Ha!

ReplyDeleteWOW...what a change, but a fun one! I lived in a Lincoln Park highrise back in 1982 and I loved it for the short period of time I was there. Have fun moving!
