Baby love...

My lovely daughter-in-law Carolyn posted this picture on her FaceBook.

I love it!!
Most everyone already knew of Carolyn and LawyerBoy's big news, but this was a cute little reminder that she's going to be a mama!
Times have changed.
My children were all announced the same way. I'd call my Mother, tell her the news, she'd tell me I was too young to be a mother,
then she would hang up.
Eventually she'd call back and tell me how dangerous childbirth was, and hang up again. The calls continued throughout the day.
By the fifth call back she was much more relaxed but positive this baby should be an only child. There were just too many things to worry about out there in the great big world.

(My mother is Italian)

By the time I announced the impending birth of my fourth child, my mother had settled down a little.
A fourth c-section couldn't possibly be any worse than the first three.
Thankfully she was right.

I wonder what my mother would have done if I could have announced my pregnancies via social media. She was an avid reader.
I can just picture her sitting at the cracked formica table, coffee cup in hand, glasses slipping down her nose, and checking my FB status. Who knows?

Everything's changed.
It's a whole new world of baby birthing going on out there!
I'm clueless about so many things, but no matter how people discover the wonderful news, I'm so happy I'm a part of it all.

I can hardly wait until my first precious GrandBaby arrives.
Perhaps FB has some sort of pregnancy countdown available?!

For now I'll just keep looking at the baby bump updates.
Could she get any cuter?

  1. Yes, so cute and so very exciting! It is a different world with social media in our lives today. We received pictures of our granddaughter just moments after she was born. Today she is 3 weeks old and just awesome. Blessings to you and your family!

  2. Funnily enough I was talking with a friend this morning about how having babies has changed since our day. So much easier these days.
