Luke's Big Day, Babies, and Light Bulb Moments...

Well this is officially the last, First Holy Communion party until the grandchildren start the cycle again! Wow, we're really getting old.

All of a sudden grandchildren are appearing. I'm not sure who decided we were old enough to have grandchildren...there wasn't any discussion. One day we just woke up and there were little people at our parties...cute little people.

After years of civilized eating, we once again found our children cutting up tiny pieces of food for their children...

Things like "jumpy-houses" started showing up again...

 Car seats made a comeback...

Who knew that I was wrong in thinking playpens were obsolete...they're not!!

Although I am not {yet} blessed with grandchildren, I'm very excited for the new Grandmas and Grandpas in the house. It really did happen in the blink of an eye. Grandma Betty suddenly became Great-Grandma...although she didn't seem to age with this new title...

{a good Merlot is known to slow the aging process}.

It was a great party...although I was caught trying to leave with precious little Emily...

The food was fabulous...
Clare and her sister Mary shared a moment...{I always wanted a sister!}
Jerry and Carolyn had happy faces...thinking of their upcoming wedding??
Sweet little Kate discovered a stray cake crumb...
And Anna Shea was horrified that the party was ending...

It's after a day like this when you'd give up anything for one more moment of baby bliss. It doesn't seem fair that we plodded through so many hours sleep-deprived and hurried. I'd love to have those moments back again.
I'd play more, clean less, and just take it all in.

It just doesn't seem fair that we can't relive those moments, reinvent them, have a do-over.

Then again, maybe we do get another chance...and that's why we're so blessed when we become grandparents.

::sigh::
I just love when things make perfect sense.

  1. i love this post today. I know its sad we can't relive the moments. I would take more time also with the kids. Before you know it they are gone!
